AusIndo BIOCOM-Springer Meeting

On Tuesday, 20 October 2009, Prof. Ian Falk as a Project Leader of Ausindo BIOCOM and his research assistant, I Putu Tirta Agung, met Zuzana Bernhart from Springer Publishers in Kuta. The meeting primarily discussed four items:

1. Biosecurity Book Progress Report
2. Possibilities of an Indonesian Translated Edition of the Biosecurity Book.
3. Pak Kaler’s AusIndo BIOCOM Glossary Book
4. Possibilities about Indigenous Research Methodology Book under development.

The two and half hour meeting covered many issues:

1. For the current biosecurity book, it is essential to give particular attention to the language, because Springer is only responsible for designing and publishing the book, and does no proof reading or editing at all. That is, the English must be in final form when sent to Springer.
2. There are some licence issues about the Indonesian translated edition the biosecurity book and the final decision on this matter will be discussed by Zuzana and the Springer.
3. Zuzana put forward some arguments to extend the glossary to another language esp. Malay and possibly an Indian language
4. Zuzana also supported the idea of the Indigenous Research Methodology book and agreed to pass it to Springer for consideration. The whole idea of this book will be discussed in the next AusIndo BIOCOM meeting, 6th – 7th of December 2009 in Bali.
